Set deep in the foothills of the Great Indian Himalayas, Binsar is a comparatively small wildlife sanctuary, covering only an area of ~50 sq kms. A small protected area, Binsar was designated as a wildlife sanctuary in 1988, following a long local movement for its establishment. Today, Binsar supports a wide variety of flora and fauna. The chief attraction of Binsar is the majestic view of the Himalayas, a 300 km stretch of famous peaks. The forests of Himalayan Oak & Rhododendron are excellent for trekking and communing with nature. |
