Jim Corbett National Park is the oldest national park in India. It is situated in Nainital district of Uttarakhand. The park is named after Jim Corbett a hunter who turned conservationist. The park was established in 1936 as Hailey National Park.

The Jim Corbett Park is located between 29°25' to 29°39'N latitude and 78°44' to 79°07'E longitude. The average altitude of the region ranges between 360 m (1,181 ft) and 1,040 m (3,412 ft). The present area of the Corbett Reserve is 1,318.54 square kilometers. 520 square kilometres of the park is core area and 797.72 square kilometres is the buffer area.

The weather in the Corbett national park is temperate. The temperature varies from 5 °C  to 30 °C during winter with thick foggy mornings. Summer temperatures normally do not rise above 40 °C. Rainfall ranges from light during the dry season to heavy during the monsoons.

The Corbett national park is home to a number of animal species. The centre of attraction of the park is the Tiger. The other animals which can be spotted in Corbett are the Asian Elephant, Chital, Para or Hog deer, Sambar, Kakar or Barking deer, Leopard, Rhesus Macaque, Langur, Himalayan Goral or Ghural, Wild boar, Asiatic Jackal, Gharial and Mugger, King Cobra, Indian Cobra, Indian Rock Pythons, Bengal Monitor and different species of birds.

The Corbett National park has a good mix of Flora. The most common being Sal, Chaurs, Khair-sissoo, Chir Pine, Banj Oak, Palms, Kanju, Jamun, Aamla, Tendu, Bel, Kusum, Mahua, Bakli, Kachnaar, Semal, Dhak, Madar, Amaltas, Teak, Eucalyptus and Jacaranda.

The Ramganga river forms the major water resource, fed by tributaries, most prominent of which are the Sonanadi, Mandal and Palain rivers. The river Kosi runs proximate to the Park and is also a significant water resource for nearby areas. There are also several seasonal water streams.

Jim Corbett National Park has grown into an eco tourism hub. It attracts every year close to 100000 visitors. There are number of hotels, resorts, camps on the periphery of the reserve which helps in accommodating the tourists. The nearest town is Ramnagar.
